I can guarantee you it WILL NOT be my last. This book drew me in within the first few pages and I lost all sense of time while reading.  Rachel is a career driven mom. She works in the district attorney's office and if that is not stressful enough, she has a teenage daughter, Charley.  She is used to working hard as a single mom, so when someone appears to be stalking and targeting her and her daughter, she will not stop until they do. She is used to receiving threats with her job, but these threats are personal. Phone calls and videos from the unknown person who says: $50K or I will hurt your daughter.  Rachel teams up with an old classmate, turned private investigator, Max. When the stalker wants her to meet on a secluded beach alone, she arrives and finds a crime scene. Can Rachel and Max find out who is responsible for all of the threats before Rachel loses her freedom? Will Charley be caught in the crossfire and become collateral damage.  This book is full of twists and turns and heart pounding action. The characters are well developed and the story is well written. Lethal Danger is book  four in the Guardians Unleashed series that is written by Jerusha Agen. While the series can be read as stand alone stories, I have enjoyed getting to know each member of the Phoenix K9 unit. A unit that is comprised of all females who use working dogs to varying degrees. This is Jazz Lamont's story. It was really good to get to know her at a deeper level. 

Jazz is still struggling to fit in. Her K9 is Flash, and he may be my favorite of the whole series. Meanwhile, she is assigned to guard and protect the Tri-City Fair. Her aunt is the manager and Jazz grew up going to the fair. However, there have been strange things that have been happening there. Thriller writer, Hawthorn, is moonlighting as fair security - and he becomes suspicious after his sister's boyfriend dies a mysterious death. He is more than convinced when threats start to ramp up at the fair. Soon we see that Jazz is a target of threats. 

The author has done a wonderful job with heart pounding action and suspense. She will keep you on your toes throughout the whole story. I loved seeing the chemistry between Hawthorn and Jazz develop. I loved their banter. This series has been one of my favorites and I wish it would never end. I love the Phoenix K9 Protection and Detective agency.

Author Bio: Growing up in rural Ohio, Kate Michaelson simultaneously developed a love of nature and a strong desire to live closer to a mall. Pursuing the latter, she attended Ohio State, where she studied English and Psychology. After earning her MFA in Creative Writing, Kate worked as a technical writer and taught English at St. Petersburg College in Florida and, later, at the University of Toledo in Ohio. Over the years, she has published academic articles, creative nonfiction, poetry, and short stories. Her debut novel, Hidden Rooms, follows a distance runner who returns to her rural Ohio hometown and must clear her brother of murdering his fiancée while also seeking answers to her own medical mystery. As someone with Lyme disease and dysautonomia, Kate’s writing uses humor and suspense to explore the experience of coping with chronic illness. Ultimately, she wants to portray the reality of the challenges that invisible disabilities pose while also demonstrating that “ability” is not a binary concept—that illness does not equal a loss of self or agency. Kate enjoys traveling, hiking, and trying (fruitlessly) to tire out her Labrador mix. She works in curriculum design and holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and it will not be my last. I really like her style of writing as the book drew me in within  the first few pages. Riley is a long distance runner. She’s been having some health symptoms at her doctors can’t figure out what’s going on. To add to her stress level her brother‘s fiancé is killed and he is the prime suspect. She wants to try and clear his name, even if it involves risking her health.   I really love the setting of the story. It’s a royal community and the way the author describe the scenes you could close your eyes and feel like you were there. I also appreciate the family dynamics to Riley and Ethan’s family. Riley is determined that to prove that her brother is not at fault for his new brides murder. They suddenly realize that there was more too than either of them knew. By finding out some of her hidden truths , they soon find themselves dealing with secrets, crime, and deceit. The book is well written. The storyline is engaging. The author has done a wonderful job and framing a story that will keep you in treated all the way up until the end.
