Book Review and Giveaway - Creative Fusion Author: Charity Bowman Webb On Tour with Celebrate Lit

About the Book

Book: Creative Fusion

Author: Charity Bowman Webb

Genre: RELIGION / Christian Living/Personal Growth

Release date: September 21, 2020

From the beginning of time, God endowed people with His creative intending for them to rule and steward over all the earth.

But Satan—once heaven’s most beautiful and creative angel—convinced Adam and Eve that the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil would give them a power that they already had. The moment that they ate the fruit, they handed their authority over to Satan. Oppression ruled the world; instead of the luminosity of heaven’s pattern advancing through the planet, creeping darkness took hold.

The enemy knows the highly effective powers of creativity all too well. Despite being cut off from its divine origin, he uses it with vigor to effectively communicate his counterfeit and repetitive message across the world.

Creative Fusion follows the interlinking tabernacle pattern of God laid out from Genesis through Revelation to provide Christians with the answers to reclaim the Lord’s creative energy and His DNA that He placed within us.

Author Charity Bowman-Webb wants readers to discover the magnificent wisdom in Scripture that will help them influence every area of society and harvest souls for God’s kingdom.

My Thoughts

Creative Fusion is written by Charity Bowman Webb.  I have not read anything by her in the past, and I really enjoyed this book. This book focuses on creativity. The author notes "One of the most vital gifts that God has given his church". Which is not something that I have ever really thought about before. The author goes on to tell us how throughout the whole Bible of the layers of Creative power that God intended for his Church.

Each chapter will open with a scripture reference, then the author will unpack the topic along with matching the opening scripture to it. She will share personal experiences. This book tied in with a lot of other things that God is telling me.

The author writes beautifully. All of the writing flows nicely together. I enjoyed reading this book. This would be a good book to read with a small group.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging Program, all thoughts are my own.

My Thoughts

Searching for Seven is written by  Tyler D. Smith. This is a Devotion. This was the book that I did not know that I needed to go through. I have been hurt by the church a few times. This was a reminder that the church is a body of people. I need to remember what my ultimate goal is. One of my favorite chapters was Chapter 2 - When in doubt - Serve. I have felt the tug of God in my heart with some things in my life -and I have been afraid. This book gave me the courage to move forward with I know where God is calling me.

This book is great for those who want to dig deeper into HIS word. This will challenge you to think deep, dig deep and change you. I would highly recoomend this for a small group study. The author relates personal experiences with Biblical Truth. I really enjoyed this book.

MY THOUGHTS

Snowstorm Sabotage is written by Kerry Johnson. This is part of the Love Inspired Suspense series. I started this book on a Friday Afternoon after work and finished it Saturday late morning. I was surprised to know this was the author's debut Love Inspired book. She hit it out of the park with this one.

Everly Raven has grown up at her family's ski resort. It has seen a lot of change lately, especially when her dad's business consultant is wanting to make a bunch of changes that her dad does not want to. Then her friend, and ski instructor ends up dead, and Everly is the prime suspect. Everly quickly finds out those she thought she could trust are the enemy. She is on the run for her life, she wants to live to see her young daughter again and she runs into her ex husband, Isaac, who is now an FBI agent who is in town investigating some fraud leads. Isaac does not know that Everly has had his child. He made some poor decisions after filing for divorce.

Together they have to protect each other from whoever is trying to frame Everly for the murder. They also have to learn to trust each other again, since the divorce left both of them bitter. How will Isaac react when he finds out that he has a daughter? Everly is not sure what to think seeing that Isaac is an FBI agent instead of a sports journalist which is why he left her. I love the lesson of forgiveness that is woven into this. It's a great reminder of how God has forgave us. I also love the lesson of leaning on God in times of trouble.

The characters are well written, the descriptions of the ski resort and action is so real that you can close your eyes and see your self there. The story is full of suspense and the writing flows nicely. I hope to see more suspense stories from this author.

I received a copy of this book through JustRead Publicity Tours, all thoughts are my own.

More from Sara

The Watcher has taken me on an incredible journey over the last decade. After obtaining my degree in English literature, I longed to write a book. However, I found the idea of sitting down and actually writing one extremely daunting. So, I took every creative writing course, read every book on the subject, and attended every writing conference and seminar I could fine—basically doing everything except writing. Then one Easter Sunday morning, in church, the idea for an entire book—beginning, middle, ending, characters—came to me. Over the next five years, I wrote, rewrote, edited, polished, and got feedback on the book, until I felt it was nearly ready to submit to a publishing contest.

I say nearly because, while the feedback I had received was largely positive, it was still clear that something was missing. A month before the deadline to submit to the publishing contest, it occurred to me what that something was—the timeline. The novel read a bit like a sweeping epic novel that took place over twenty years. While that might work in some genres, it doesn’t play well in romantic suspense.

I had always been intrigued by the idea of a non-human narrator, and it occurred to me that could work with this book. That led me to the idea of using The Watcher, an unseen being in the spiritual realm, as my narrator. When I added in that being and numerous other beings, I was able to shorten the timeline of the book from twenty years to six days.

Of course, this required a major overhaul of the book. I closeted myself in my office for a month, only completing the story the day before the deadline for the contest. That meant I didn’t have an opportunity to show it to anyone or get feedback, so I had no idea whether the idea worked or if the story even made sense anymore.

The Watcher ended up winning the contest and was published in 2011. A decade and eight other published novels later, I got back the rights to my debut novel, polished it up, added several more chapters, and re-released it through Mountain Brook Ink in 2021.

As my first novel, my only (so-far) standalone, and the sole novel I have released that is speculative romantic suspense as opposed to contemporary romantic suspense, The Watcher holds a special place in my heart. As with all my books, my hope and prayer is that it will touch readers’ hearts and draw them closer to the God who has promised to never leave them or forsake them.

My Thoughts

The Watcher is written by Sara Davison. I have read a few other books by this author and have loved everything that I have read. This is a Speculative Romantic Suspense. You will be drawn in within the first few pages. This book does deal with sexual abuse/trauma. This may be trigger for some, but it is an important part of the story.

This book will go back and forth between present day and the "night". It is not at all confusing. Usually I do not like books like this but the author has woven it together effortlessly and flawlessly. The main character Kathryn who was mistaken for another woman and attacked. Her daughter, Tory is now wanting to know more about her father - and Kathryn now has to go back to that night and tell her. She is relying heavily on God.

One of the men who attacked her, has reconciled to God. He knows that he has done wrong. It was an interesting perspective to see his side of the story in this. At first, I was not sure what to think, but we see that the lesson to learn is we are all sinners - and in God's eyes sin is sin.

What a powerful story! Well written characters, suspenseful and intriguing storyline. Make sure that you carve some time out to read this book.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging program - all thoughts are my own.

About the Author

Michael James Emberger is an author of thrillers and suspense, and he resides in Wilton, New Hampshire. He enjoys weaving narratives of conspiracy and misguided intentions around divisive topics. Where there is debate, there is always room for a villain with goals far out of alignment from either side. Michael is a graduate of Messiah College, where he studied Engineering and met his wife racing solar cars cross-country. When he’s not working on home renovations or writing, he enjoys visiting the ocean and exploring the majesty of God’s creation on the summits of New Hampshire’s mountains.

More from Michael

Silent Altitudes is a Cli-fi (Climate Fiction) thriller set in the near future. I wanted to avoid the current political debates over global warming, so I went with the assumption that the world eventually comes to consensus about what to do. The United Nations rolls out an elaborate technological solution, but sabotage and conspiracy lead to disaster on startup day. That’s the type of angle I enjoy writing. Climate change is the backdrop, but this book is about family and survival and fighting against the greed and corruption that have laid good intentions to ruin. It’s about loss and hope and trusting that God is still in control even when everything seems hopeless.

A significant inspiration for this book was a phrase my daughter would say when she was little: “Hold you Mommy.” It meant she wanted a hug. I contacted Laura, a pottery artist on Etsy, and ordered a custom mug with that phrase as a Christmas present for my wife. Laura was a joy to work with, and our conversation led to me developing characters and themes that provided the heart of my story. I find it’s those little inspirations that make the biggest difference in my writing.

My Thoughts

Silent Altitudes is written by Michael James Emberger. This is my first exposure to this author. While this is not my normal genre to pick up and read, I did enjoy this book. It took a few chapters to get into this book, but once I did get hooked, I did not want to stop reading.

The book is a "What if?" story. This also talks about climate change - and the way that the author wrote the scenes I could see the fog rolling in when I closed my eyes. Such vivid descriptions. I appreciate that the author noted that he was writing a story, not add to the debate. Since Climate change is such a hot topic right now among other topics. There is a lot of suspense in this book - who could be trying to sabotage others? Who could be using the climate change to further their agenda?

I did get lost a bit with some of the scientific terms - that was not my strong point in school. However, I learned a lot as I discovered some new words. The characters are well written, the story is interesting and  I hope to read more from this author.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging Program, all thoughts are my own.
