My Thoughts

My Name Is Not Ed Tug Written and Illustrated by Amy Nielander is a super cute and fun children's picture book. This book is geared toward readers and their parents ages 5-8. I read this with my 11 and 9 year old boys and we loved it. Edimorwhitimormiligimmus Tug is frustrated that his teacher keeps trying to shorten his name. He loves his name. It's unique. He is named after his Grandfather, Grandmother, Great uncle and an aunt. These important people passed down a particular skill. He is very proud of his name.

The boys and I loved this lesson. Celebrate who you are and where you came from. This lead to some great conversation to our heritage and why it's important to not forget that. The book is well written and beautifully illustrated. This would make a great edition to any library.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Children's Book Review for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
