Artist Gabby Wolfe has the ability to see not only the beauty of the living but the despair of the dead. When she returns to her childhood home in Henry Park Colorado, she is forced to bring along her younger brother Mitch. He is on a “break” from college where he was majoring in wine, women, and song. If that isn’t enough they also have Mitch’s rambunctious beagle Luigi along who prefers to spend his days wallowing in junk food. When Gabby draws the death of a young woman before it happens, she knows she must tell someone and risk a new job and her professional credibility. Will she reveal her secret in time to save the woman in the water or will it be too late?

MY THOUGHTS

One of my favorite things about being a book blogger/reviewer is being exposed to authors that I may not have been. Color Me Dead is written by Teresa Trent. This is a paranormal cozy mystery and it grabbed my attention as soon as I started reading. This was a great read at 237 pages.

Artist Gabby Wolfe has just landed her dream job in her hometown of Henry Park, Colorado. She will be illustrating the latest book of a famous children’s author who lives in Henry Park. Her brother is along for the ride.  Gabby has the ability to see not only the beauty of the living but the despair of the dead. She struggles to be able to accept this gift, because she does not want people to think she is crazy.

However, she keeps having visions of a woman floating in water. When she nears her new location, the visions become stronger. Then a  local house cleaner Amelia Jones disappears and is later found dead in Lake Henry, Gabby's brother Mitch becomes a suspect, and Gabby is determined to clear Mitch's name and find the real killer.

The author has done a great job in throwing in twists and turns. I love the descriptions of the scenes, small town life, secrets and I cannot wait until the next book in the series comes out.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Partners in Crime Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
