Crystal has a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Her focus is in children's literature, publishing, and journalism. She has had many careers including ten years as a MedA with the Canadian Naval Reserve, advertising with a daily newspaper, communications and marketing, training as an EMT, and continued studies in developmental psychology.

She and her family live in Regina, Saskatchewan in a simple little house with two giant support dogs.

My Thoughts

Protecting the Amish Child is book 19 in the Amish Country Justice series that is written by Dana R Lynn. All books that can be read as stand alone - they are all connected by the Amish Country theme. This story starts out with a lot of fast paced action, and it does not let up throughout the whole book. It all starts when Francesca Brown finds a dead body. When FBI Special Agent Tanner Hall responds, they soon find a scared, autistic child hiding on her property. It soon becomes clear that the little child has witnessed this horrific crime, and those responsible will stop at nothing to silence him. 

I think one of my favorite things about this book is that both, Francesca and Tanner are real feeling. They have flaws, they have bad relationships in their pasts. I really love when authors create authentic characters. The author has captured Amish Country beautfully and has woven in a special character with autism. 

This book will draw you in within the first few pages. You will want to read it all in one sitting. The book will have your heart pounding and keep you on the edge of your seat. I love this series so much and it keeps getting better and better with each book,

MY THOUGHTS

Witness Escape is the 5th book in the Deputies of Anderson County series that is written by Sami A. Abrams. I’ve enjoyed this series so much. I feel like with the end of the series I’m leaving all my friends behind. This is Detective Doug Olsen’s story. We’ve seen him in previous books and it was good to get more of his back story. 

Tabitha Wilson used to be the girlfriend of a known drug lord. She witnesses some heart wrenching things and knows she needs to get out. She’s led a rough life and does not understand when people
are nice to her without wanting something. She is approached by a DEA agent that wants to bring down her boyfriend. She goes into hiding and gets alarmed when her DEA contact doesn’t check in. Then her past collides with her present. 

Doug has a lot of guilt from when his wife was killed. He notices Tabitha always checking her surroundings and follows her when she bolts from the diner. It becomes clear that she needs help because someone wants to silence her. When he realizes she’s connected to his missing friend, the DEA agent. 

The author takes us on an adventure as Tabitha and Doug try to stay a few steps ahead of the killer. The book starts off with action and suspense and doesn’t let stop.

MY THOUGHTS Killer Weed is written by Manning Wolfe. This is part of the Merit Bridge series. I have not read any of the other books in the series, but the author did a great job in giving back story about previous characters. This book grabbed my attention right away, and kept my attention throughout. I really liked Merit's character. She is determined, smart and does not back down. Merit has a client that she has helped get the necessary paperwork to legally farm marijuana. The author clearly did her research while writing this book. While, there is clearly someone who wants to destroy the competition when they burn down Merit's clients crop. What the arsonist does not realize is that he will encounter teenage boys and tries to be rid of them also. The hired gun is a master of disguise, he learns his targets and blends in around them. He is ruthless, cunning and tries to stay ahead of the investigation. He meets his match with Merit. As she and her team start to unravel his plans - she becomes the next target. I loved the action and suspense in this book. I loved seeing what was going to be happening next. The author takes you on quite an adventure with this story. MY THOUGHTS

Hunted by a Killer is written by Laurie Winter. This is part of the Love Inspired Cold Case series that is written by multiple authors. I really love how this author sets the scenes. The story starts out with action and suspense, and does not let up throughout the whole story. 

Police Detective Charlotte Reid has had a lot happen. Her sister was murdered, and when a body shows up she knows deep in her soul that her sister's killer is back. She finds herself teamed up with FBI special agent Austin Walsh. It's been six years since they had teamed up last. 

It becomes very clear that the killer wants to make this personal. Charlotte finds herself trapped in a game of cat and mouse. The killer gives her an ultimatum: catch him or she will become his next victim. 

The author has written such great characters, you can feel the adrenaline coming off the pages. The story is well written. I could not read fast enough. I loved all the reminders about trusting in God's plan throughout the story.
