My Thoughts

I finished this book a few days ago - and had to let everything settle so that I could write my review. I have NEVER gone on such an adventure as I did with this story. Her Darkest Secret is a Love Inspired Trade book that is written by Jessica R. Patch. This book is my absolutely favorite that she has written.

Fiona Kelly was kidnapped when she was a teenager. She got away from a serial killer that has now been named "The Nursery Rhyme Killer". The killer poses his victims in the tale of a nursery rhyme. I had not heard of some of the rhymes that she mentioned in her book - but I made sure to look them up after and her writing was right on target with them. Fiona has spent her entire law enforcement career trying to bring this guy down. It's ruined so many things for her -including her marriage to Asa Kodiak. Both worked for the Strange Crimes Unit - which investigate crimes that are ritualistic or have a religious undertone to them. Fiona has transferred to Chicago to start fresh. She keeps a secret deep down that noone knows.

The NRK strikes again - and Fiona heads back to Memphis to help the team. Asa is NOT happy to see her but knows that she is one of the best people to help on the case. They cannot seem to catch up with the NRK he has been staying 4 steps ahead of them the whole time. This book takes you deep into suspense and twisted games - but not without the reminder that God can redeem and heal.

I have been a huge fan of this author for several years. Each book keeps getting better then the previous. This one touches on subjects that some may struggle with. Such as divorce, having a few drinks, straying from faith. The author has done such a great job weaving in the reminder that God is always ready to enter our lives and turn our brokenness into something beautiful.

I enjoyed meeting the Strange Crimes Memphis Team. They are unique and well written characters. I can't wait to read the next one. I had NO idea who was behind all of this until the VERY end.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to be a part of her street team - and providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
