More from John

I wrote the book as a Christian response to a well-known actor starring in a popular television show reboot. I thought the topic would be an interesting fictional exploration what actors and fans should consider when a TV show seems to compromise an actor’s values.

I chose the Dallas metroplex as the main setting because I have visited the area several times. As a child in the early 1980s, I remember watching two Dallas TV stations on cable TV.

My Thoughts

Bobby’s Girls is a Christian Fiction story that is written by John R. Price. There’s been a lot of focus lately in the news of actors and actresses who have shared their faith. I liked how this story was based on that. There is a lot of fame and temptation as a celebrity. There’s pressure to make a lot of money with each movie or show. The Bible tells us not to put our hopes in money. That our hope needs to be in Jesus.

After being out of the limelight for awhile child actors brother and sister duo- Staci and Mike Whitaker have lived a quiet non Hollywood life. They’ve gotten married and raised a family. However their old show is about to be rebooted. (This gave me all the Full house feels) Staci, Mike, and Mike’s wife, Celeste agree to the reboot but don’t want to compromise their Christian values. However when production starts how do you explain to your children the words that are being shown on tv was just an act? What the show is requiring of the characters has some questioning Staci, Celeste and Mike’s faith.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was an accurate portrayal of how Christianity changes how we view what we watch and hear. I thought this was a great story. It’s well written with great character development.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this story. All thoughts are my own.
