Meet the Author:

Jeff loves children's literature , “One Drop of Kindness” is Jeff's first published children's book. It's Me reads like a fun graphic novel, but it is entirely non fiction. Every character in the book is a real student, or educator. It is so important for us to give access, equity, inclusion, and compassion to all those we meet. "Seeing" each other and embracing our differences are jewels to life! Jeff taught for ten years as an elementary school teacher in grades 4, 5, and 6 and has seven years of administrative experience. He's always looked at education from a different lens: from someone who hated and struggled with school. Jeff vows to always do his best to help increase opportunities for all students to feel heard, noticed, celebrated, challenged and safe. Jeff works hard to push back against the old model of “Industrialized Education” and fight compliance. There is not a day that goes by that he is not looking ahead to improve teacher pedagogy, student engagement and digital access for all. More from the Author

When will it Change?

Can you help me make Kindness the Norm?

Right now, here we are. In the moment. Doing. Moving. Breathing. Living our life.

And then it happens. Something we don’t want, but now, we have come to expect.

A tragedy. A loss. An event that shakes our country.

Lives are disrupted, lost and memorialized. We wonder why. What happened? What could

have gone wrong? When will things change and improve?

We Wake up - and it hits us. The Anger. The Rage. The Pain. The Fear. The Anguish.

And The Hate. The pure, ugly HATE.

When will it end?  Why can’t we find Kindness, Compassion, Love, Empathy and Togetherness?

It seems so simple; we teach our Preschool and Elementary students to be kind, use

nice words, actions and gestures. “Think of others first” we say to them;

because we know that they are young, malleable, impressionable and sweet. Hoping it

will stick to them like glue. At least for the 7 hours they are at school, right?

We KNOW they can do better than we did.

We KNOW they can help us to improve our world.

We KNOW they are the only ones we can count on to be what our society isn't.

But, for some reason, it isn’t working. It is broken, and so are we.

Why can’t we get this right? The hatred. The fury. The disgust. The judgement. The racism.

The ignorance.

The inability to reflect, stop and think.

Not a day goes by in this amazing country that we don’t relive Normandy, Vietnam,

Selma, 9/11, Holocaust, Columbine, Boston Marathon Bombings. And now, January 6, 2021 - need I list more?

No. We know them all, or at least most of them.

They just repeat a common, and horrific theme; Racism, White Supremacy, Hatred, War, Mental Illness, Misunderstandings, Ignorance and Lack of Empathy and Understanding.

It really can begin with One Drop of Kindness. Let’s be intent on “seeing” each other. Learn to listen, understand, accept, and embrace. Take pride in your uniqueness, but don’t smother someone else’s.

Let’s do this. Share a drop of kindness today, and we can be better for it.

My Thoughts
This is a must read for all children. It's Me by Jeff Kubiak is a Middle Grade Fiction book. It is geared toward ages 8-12. I did read this book with my 9 and 7 year old sons. The reason is is geared toward middle grade is the fact that it touches on some sensitive subjects. Such as: Racism, bullying, ADHD, and other social issues. The United States is a melting pot of cultures and this book is great to show how we are different and alike.
I was bullied as a kid. I did not come from much. I wore the same outfits over and over. I remember being ridiculed for it. I can't imagine being a kid now and being ridiculed for my color, race or religion. Each story in this book is full of empathy, diversity and issues that one might be ridiculed for. For example, we really enjoyed the ADHD story. My 9 year old son has ADHD. He has good days and bad days. However, he has been made fun of because he was different.
This book is perfect for understanding of all in today's crazy world. I love  all of the eye opening poems that reflect on everyone's uniqueness. My boys and I really enjoyed this  book. It reads like graphic novel which was cool.
I received a copy of this book through IRead book tours - all thoughts are my own.
