About the Author

Since I could hold a pencil, I’ve be writing.

In primary school, I wrote stories about my pets, my own version of princess stories, a classroom crush…

In high school, I wrote stories about horses, adventures, my sister…

However, as strong as the writing hobby was, I still pursued a career in Veterinary Nursing.

It wasn’t until God intervened and moved me out of the city and into a small country town to be a farmer’s wife, that he resurfaced the writing desire – and gave me the stories. So was born my debut series, each book holding a part of my own testimony, Casts of Silver.

It is my prayer that you enjoy the journey these stories take you on, and that they challenge, encourage and inspire you.

Hello! Im Karen, or Kazzy Wazzy to my husband. ðŸ˜ƒ

Since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been writing.

In primary school, I wrote stories about my pets, my own version of princess stories, a classroom crush… *grin*

In high-school, I wrote stories about horses, adventures, my Sister…remember that story sis? *smile*

However, as strong as the writing hobby was, I still pursued a career in Veterinary Nursing by day, and a professional Ballroom Dance teacher of an evening.

It wasn’t until God intervened, moved me out of the city at into a small country town to be a farmers wife, that He resurfaced the writing desire – and gave me the stories. So was born my debut series, each book holding a part of my own testimony, Casts of Silver.

Centred around five youth group leaders, the stories look at very real circumstances young people face without sugar coating consequences of individual actions. However, where is God when problems arise?

Well, He’s always closer than you think, and He’s always working for your good.

It is my prayer you enjoy the journey these stories take you on and that they challenge, encourage and inspire you.

My Thoughts

Uncompromising is written by K.J. Rowe. This is a teen/YA story. This book takes place in Australia. The author did a great job describing the area to where I could picture what was going on.

Dylan Saunders has got it all. He really loves his job. However he doesn’t have a great home life. His younger brother is having a lot of trouble and his mom has some deep depression since his dads death. So the perfect outside doesn’t match the broken inside.

I really liked that this book has a main male character. I don’t get to read many books like this. I also loved learning all about Australia. The author wrote a realistic story that her readers may face. While this is part of a series. It can be read as a stand alone.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

My Thoughts - Courage in the Shadows Author: Robin Patchen

About the Book

Book: Courage in the Shadows

Author: Robin Patchen

Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense

Release date: Febraury 14, 2023

When she crosses paths with a killer from her past, can she survive long enough to step into her future?

Ever since she and thirteen other models were kidnapped years before, Summer Lake has fought to ensure that she can protect herself. But when her job as a bodyguard brings her into contact with a man she believes masterminded her kidnapping, her first urge is to run, terrified of being taken again. Instead, she follows the stranger, determined to bring him to justice.

Bodyguard Grant Wright fell in love with Summer the instant he saw her, a fierce protector standing in front of the other endangered young women he’d come to rescue. Years later, Summer still sees him as barely more than a coworker. Grant bides his time, sticking close in an effort to keep her safe and hoping she’ll eventually open her heart to him. When her life is threatened, he’s not about to allow her to fight her enemies alone. He’ll stay by her side whether she wants him or not.

But Summer and Grant have an enemy whose global smuggling organization is so powerful, so pervasive, that it’ll be a miracle if either of them emerges from this battle alive.

About the Author

Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball and chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she’s not writing, she’s editing or reading, proving that most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. More from Robin

In Lineage of Corruption, the heroine offhandedly refers to her bodyguard as a “Venus statue.” It seemed a fair description of the woman known at the time only as Lake.

But it made me wonder… Why would a nearly six-foot-tall, drop-dead gorgeous blonde become a bodyguard?

We learned a little more about Lake in Wreathed in Disgrace, including the fact that her partner, Jon, was also her cousin—a man who considered her as close as a sister.

We also learned that Lake didn’t have the happiest background.

Slowly, over the course of writing two books, Lake became more than just the pretty bodyguard in the corner. She became real to me.

And her murky background came into view. What would make a beautiful woman, a woman given the whimsical name Summer Lake, a woman who could easily grace magazine covers—and has in the past—decide to lay down her curling iron and pick up a sidearm?

I won’t tell you her secret, but suffice it to say, Summer has good reason to carry a gun. She’s been threatened in the past. And when she was a kid, she didn’t even feel safe in her own home. She’s seen people she loved and cared about harmed, and she loathes nothing more than watching the strong prey on the weak.

She decided a long time ago that she’s never going to be counted among the weak again.

But when Summer follows a man she’s pretty sure was the mastermind behind her own worst nightmare, she inadvertently overhears his nefarious plans. Only she wasn’t as hidden as she thought, and if not for Grant, her new partner—a man who’s doggedly determined to make sure she stays safe—she might have been killed.

With just enough information to know something terrible is going to happen, Summer and Grant embark on a quest to bring down Summer’s old enemy.

But he knows who she is, and he’s not going down without a fight.

This book was a blast to write, and I absolutely can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. It’s got a hunky and protective hero, a strong yet vulnerable heroine, and a villain who’ll keep you awake at night.

I hope you’ll check it out!

My Thoughts

Courage in the Shadows is book 9 in the Coventry saga series. The series is written by Robin Patchen. Every book in the series keeps getting better and better but this one may be my favorite one yet. I love that Lake got her own story.

Summer Lake was kidnapped along with her sister and other models years ago. She was able to get away. While on a mission guarding a head of a Mexican state she recognizes one of the family members. Her defensive instincts perk up and she follows him out to the car where she sees the beginning of a shady transaction take place. However they see her and she almost gets taken out.

Grant has been in love with Summer since he rescued her. He sees the change in her demeanor and looks for her when she leaves. He arrives at the right time. Suddenly they find themselves on a leave of absence and Summer’s life being threatened.

They find themselves being caught up in a cat and mouse game. The enemy seems to find them. They are using all of their resources to try and find what they are up too. They are both running from pain from their pasts.

This book is full of heart pounding action and suspense. I absolutely loved Summer and Grant. I remember the first book that Summer appeared in and the baggage she carried. It was nice to get her full story. Don’t fret if you haven’t read the whole series. The author fills in enough gaps. However this series is phenomenal and I don’t want it to end.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

My Thoughts

Fraser is the first book in the The Minnesota Marshalls that is written by Susan May Warren. I absolutely love this author. I have read the previous Marshall family in Montana, and this one is centralized in Minnesota. The Minnesota Marshalls have a thriving wine business. Fraser is back home after being taken captive and injured on a mission. He works for a private security company.

His younger brother, Creed has gotten himself into quite a pickle. He met a girl while traveling through Europe and they are caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. The girl, happens to be a princess. Creed reaches out to his brothers. Fraser and Creed have not always had the best relationship. Since Creed was adopted Fraser was not thrilled about it. Fraser and Imani's body guard, Pippa reluctantly team up.

This book was so packed of suspense and action. Seeing the Marshall family bond was heartwarming. Despite their rocky start, Fraser wanted to make sure that Creed is found safe and sound. I am so excited for this new series!

My Thoughts

With Me in the Storm is written by Karen E. Ingle. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be my last. The author has crafted a beautiful story of a lost and broken woman, who lost site of God, to find herself in the darkest of situations to a story of restoration and redemption. This book does deal with drug dealing and human trafficking. The author does a phenomenal job in shining a light to dark areas.

Maddie finds herself pregnant and scared. Her drug dealing boyfriend/pimp tells her to get rid of it or he will get rid of her and she is so scared and broken. She starts dialing numbers for assistance and gets Tricia the executive director of the Dos Almas Pregnancy Center. Tricia recognizes the fear in Maddie's voice and helps her make some connections to escape.

Zach is a scary dude. He is used to getting his way and will hurt women to do it. Maddie is terrified of him. He is a very dangerous drug dealer and human trafficker. When he finds Maddie gone - he manipulates her only friend to telling him where she is.

This story drew me in within the first few pages. I did not want to stop reading. I could relate to so much of this story. I was pregnant at a young age - while I was not a victim of trafficking I was not in a good situation. I actually stayed in a maternity home for unwed teen moms which was similar to Dos Almas. They were an amazing resource for those who chose life. So I felt Maddie's story.

The author has crafted a wonderful reminder that God forgiveness is for all. No matter what we have done in life, God will forgive. Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
