More from Dana

I love book covers with adorable children on them, don’t you? There’s something so angelic about those wee folks on the covers. I have two bear cubs myself, young adults now, and I love them devotedly. Tell you what though. Sometimes, just occasionally mind you, they were a wee bit naughty. Don’t tell anyone, but one reason I enjoyed writing Cold Case Pursuit so much is that hero Tyler is the single dad of a little girl named Rain who is….er…a handful. Sure, she’s adorable, but she’s prone to disobedience and the occasional tendency to flush things down the toilet. So in addition to the edge of your seat pursuit of a murderous clown killer, there are the shenanigans of a precocious preschooler, a highly trained yet distractible police K-9, and a romance that doesn’t exactly run smoothly. Fun to write? You betcha! I hope you enjoy coming along with me on this True Blue adventure!

My Thoughts

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the Love Inspired Suspense books. I subscribe to the the Reader's service through their website. I love that they contain lots of action, leave you on the edge of your seat adreneline - and will keep you going until the very end. I am also a huge fan of Dana Mentink. I have read several of her books and they are always amazing. She is very animated and always posts fun stuff through her facebook page.
Cold Case Pursuit is part of the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn Series. I have not read the other books in the series (yet - there are a few that are in my TBR pile). They are written by different authors and while each story is unique - they are all tied together by the K9 family. You will see characters reappearing. In this book Penelope and her brother, Bradley were left orphans at young ages. The killer clown that was responsible for their parents death is still on the loose. The killer let Penelope live - because he felt he was freeing her from "bad parents that were neglectful". However as the 20 year anniversary approaches - Penelope tells the press "The killer is a monster." So, he resurfaces to finish her and her brother off.
Enter swoon worthy single dad K9 Detective Tyler. He is Bradley's best friend - and is falling for his kid sister. Can he keep her safe? Tyler comes with his own baggage resulting his his divorce and his full single dad duty. He is drawn to Penelope and wants to get closer to her.
The killer will not stop until Bradley and Penelope is dead. If that means that he puts others around them in danger - then so be it. This book starts out with the first few pages of action - and does not let up. The author is crafty with her descriptions. She writes so you can visualize yourself there. The author throws in lots of twists and turns - and while the killer is known early on - that does not mean that the suspense is over. I also want to pet Scrappy. The K9 drop out that becomes Penelope's guard. I am a sucker for dogs.
I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program - all thoughts are my own.
