Most of the farmed foxes at SaveAFox are handed to them because they are sick, injured, or rejected, and therefore a liability or of no value to a fur farmer.

Mikayla Raines, founder / rescuer and her wonderful team are passionate about what they do and devoted to making a difference.

Their purpose is reflected in SaveAFox’s Mission Statement:

“To rescue and provide forever homes for captive-born, non-releasable wildlife.”

Greenbeard the Pirate Pig by Andrea Torrey Balsara is a  Children's Adventure book. I read this book with my 9 and 7 year old sons and we all enjoyed it. This book is geared toward baby - 7 years old. It is beautifully illustrated. The message of the book is that if you work hard, stay on track, stay determined you will accomplish a lot. Greenbeard the Pirate Pig is a guinea pig that is a farmer. He loves lettuce and the lettuce turns his pig beard green. On day while he was outside he got a whiff of some fresh sea air. It's then he decides he wants to be a pirate. He packs up his veggies, shines his boots and even finds a carrot to use as a sword. He is able to secure a small ship for exchange for a song. He meets a rat named Smug Rumkin. Smug is a fun character - they were complete opposites and it was so fun to see their interaction. The book has catchy songs that my boys enjoyed singing. This is a good one to add to your bedtime routine.

I received a copy of this book through Silver Dagger Blogging Program - all thoughts are my own.
