MY THOUGHTS
The Secrets of Emberwild is written by Stephenia H. McGee. Be transported back to Emberwild Horse Farm in Mississippi. It's 1905 and we meet Nora Fenton. This was a time that women were not allowed to ride. Nora, does not seem to care if the word is no. She sneaks off to the barn to work with some of the horses.
Silas has come to town to solve the 15 year old murder of his father. He cannot wrap his head around how his expert trainer father was trampled to dead He gets a lead about Emberwild and he goes there in hopes of a temporary job. He is hired on a trial basis to train the horse that Nora has been working with.
I loved the mystery and all the historical detail in this story. The author did careful research to make her story as real as possible. I felt like I learned a lot about horse training.
Now, the author has done such a great job with her descriptions. I really felt like I was standing there watching everything unfold. She put so much detail into the scenes. The characters are well developed and well written. The storyline is intriguing and unique. This author always does such a wonderful job bringing history to life.
