My Thoughts
Beyond the Gray Mountains is book one in the Big Sky Amish series that is written by Tricia Goyer. The author did a really good job in writing the scenes so that you felt like you were standing there watching it unfold. These characters were previously introduced in Beside Still Waters. I did not read this book and did not have any issues with following along. We see Marianna and Ben starting to plan their wedding,. Marianna wants a simple traditional Amish Wedding.
However, Ben has some issues and fears. He wants to delay the wedding - he knows he loves Marianna but his faith is suffering. Ben, Marianna's father and Uncle Ike go on a hike across the continental divide. This is a eye opening experience for Ben. He has been living life as an Englisher and a rock star.
I loved this book. I loved the Big Sky Mountains, I loved the storyline of an Amish woman marrying a rockstar - I loved the faith in God that our characters had. The book is packed full of emotions and will leave you with wanting the next book as soon as possible.
