She entered Lily’s room. The glow from the night-light glimmered off the little girl’s hair and the curve of her cheek. Emma picked up her daughter, nestling the child’s face against her shoulder. Lily stirred but, thankfully, remained sleeping. As silent as a shadow, Emma flew to her sister-in-law’s room.
“Vivian,” she hissed.
The other woman muttered something in her sleep. Emma placed Lily down gently on the bed before shaking Vivian awake. When her sister-in-law opened her eyes, Emma held a finger to her lips. “I think someone’s in the house.”
Vivian’s eyes widened and her body went stiff.
“Take Lily into the bathroom and lock the door.” Emma pressed her cell phone into Vivian’s hand. “Speed Dial 1 is the sheriff’s office. Deputies are on the way, but you should call them again.”
Vivian grabbed her wrist. “Where are you going?”
“To check it out.” Emma secretly hoped whatever had caused Sadie’s reaction wasn’t cause for serious alarm, but she wasn’t taking any chances.
Vivian’s gaze dropped to the Taser in Emma’s hand. “Please...be careful.”

Thanks for joining me for a brand new adventure. TEXAS TWIN ABDUCTION is the first book in my new Cowboy Lawmen series and it’s a departure from what I normally write. I love writing about cops and serial killers so when my editor first suggested the cowboy/western theme, I was hesitant. I’m a city girl at heart so this was so far out of my comfort zone! But I couldn’t resist for long. After all, who doesn’t love a cowboy? Thankfully, I found a way to merge what I loved—law enforcement, FBI, US Marshals—with the cowboy/family themed books my editor wanted to see by making my group of hero brothers a family of law enforcement types with ties to the family ranch. The best of both words. Score!

Book one in this new series, TEXAS TWIN ABDUCTION, begins with my hero, little brother Lawson Avery, in a quandary. All he ever wanted out of life was to run his family’s Texas ranch, but his ex-fiancée Ashlee’s final words to him as she skipped out on their wedding was that his desire for the simple life made him unambitious and unworthy of her love. Her words broke him, sending him searching for something more meaningful to do with his life, eventually winding up as a deputy in the sheriff’s office. But, despite law enforcement being in his blood, Lawson finally realized that life wasn’t for him and made plans to return to the ranch. However, his plans are sidetracked when he finds Ashlee unconscious on the side of the road in a bullet-ridden car with no memory of him or their past together. When it becomes clear that someone wants her dead, Lawson steps in to act as her protector. But will digging into the mysteries of her past cost him the future he still longs to have with her?

My Thoughts

WOW. This author left me speechless with this book. This book (along with most of the Love Inspired Suspense books) starts out with an action packed opening - and continues throughout the entire book. This is the first book in the Cowboy Lawmen series. We meet Lawson and Ashlee. Who are former loves. Ashlee is found unconscious outside a bullet riddled car - and Lawson feels the instinct to step in and protect her - despite how she broke his heart. She does not remember anything - how she got there or why she would have been targeted. Lawson and Ashlee try and figure it out - and find out where Ashlee's twin is - and if she is involved in all this mess. The author has crafted well rounded characters - who you can't help but love. She has written an amazing, action packed, non stop suspense, inspirational suspense book. I have read several of this author's books - and they are always amazing.  I would make sure that you carve out a chunk of time to read this - because you won't want to put it down. I can't wait until the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program - all thoughts are my own.

The Killing Tide is the first book in my Coastal Guardian series. My husband was Navy, so why am I writing about the Coast Guard? Because I think their mission to keep our waters and our country safe should be highlighted more. Before I started writing The Killing Tide, I’ll admit I knew little about the Coast Guard. I had a friend in high school who joined the Guard right after graduation, but that’s about the depth of my experience with them. Then, my husband and I watched a movie called The Finest Hour.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly urge you to. It’s the true story of one of the most dangerous and daring rescue attempts in Coast Guard history. Boatswain’s Mate First Class Bernie Webber takes a small team to rescue the crew of the Pendleton T2 oil tanker, which split in half off the coast of Cape Cod during a brutal nor’easter in 1952. I won’t ruin the ending for you, but let’s just say it’s a wonderful testament to courage in adversity. After watching it, I knew I had to write a series about the Coast Guard. I began researching and came across the Coast Guard Investigative Service and my interest was highly peaked. After talking with Coast Guardsmen, both newly in the service and those long retired, I began to see the story weaving together like a movie in my mind. I hope you enjoy reading the CGIS Wilmington teams’ adventures, cases and…of course, romances.

My Thoughts

Wow. What an amazing book! I was left speechless at the end. This author has crafted a well written, memorable book that is full of twists and turns. Gabby and Finn are amazing characters. I mean one is a Coast Guard Investigative Service special agent and one is an investigative reporter, who is also Finn's boss' sister -- so how can you go wrong? They are thrown together to solve the murder of a Coast Guard officer and the disappearance of another. Gabby is strong willed - and thinks she can solve the mystery herself - and gets herself tangled up a bit. This book will take you on twists and turns and leave your adrenaline pumping. What a great story!

There are a lot of character introductions in this book - which at first was confusing - but I was able to sort it out.

My Thoughts

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I look forward to reading more from her. This book is the first in the Amish of Price Edward Island series. The author has written some amazing, unique characters, with a beautifully written story line. I love marriage of convenience stories. 

This one, however shows that you should always be honest with your spouse. Lydia and Joel enter into their marriage holding back secrets. Which can get you tangled up. They do learn to trust each other. 

They also become foster parents to a English child with Autism. Lydia and Joel fall in love with this sweet child -and want to adopt her - however will their pasts hurt them?

I loved this story. It is a story of ultimate trust of God and forgiveness. It is well written and leaves you wanting to read more of the characters.
