Lethal Standoff is written by DiAnn Mills. This book drew me in within the first few pages and kept my attention throughout the whole story. Hostage negotiator Carrington Reed is called to the scene when reports come in that fifteen hostages are being held by the Kendrix brothers in an abandoned house in south Texas. When she arrives on site, Carrington quickly learns that the brothers are armed and refuse to release their victims, a group of undocumented immigrants, until the local police identify their father’s murderer. She works closely with Levi Ehrlich, a handsome investigative reporter. They soon see some inconsistencies in regards to the Kendrix’s father’s death. Carrington is a talented negotiator. I loved her character. I love that Levi, who has recently converted to Messianic Judaism is facing his own challenges. However neither will let their flaws stand in the way of trying to figure out what happened. The story moves at a fast pace. The author has done a phenomenal job in building up the tension and action. The characters are likable and realistic. They have flaws and are real feeling. Thank you to the author, publisher and Partners in Crime Book Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
