Meet the Author:

Lori Orlinsky is a multi-award-winning children's book author who lives in Chicago. She was inspired to tell this story after her family experienced the loss of their beloved eighteen-year-old cat, Tiger. Unable to find books about pet loss to help her young kids cope with their grief, Lori wrote Balloons for Tiger. She hopes this book will help others, too.

My Thoughts:

Balloons for Tiger is written by Lori Orlinsky. This book is geared toward children ages 3-7. I read this with my 8 and 9 year old sons and we enjoyed it very much. This book is written in a way that children can understand and cope with a loss of a beloved pet. We have two dogs. Theodore Roosevelt who is a 6 month old German Shepherd and Amelia Earhart who is a 2 year old lab mix. (If you are not familiar with me - I am a history nerd. I have a Masters in Military History) My 8 year old had a lot of questions about how pets can pass - where they go and this book really helped break it down. 

The illustrations are beautiful and fun. They contain bright colors and kept all of our attention. This is a must read for children who may be facing the loss of pets.
