About the Author

Kit Hawthorne makes her home in south central Texas on her husband’s ancestral farm, where seven generations of his family have lived, worked, and loved. When not writing, she can be found reading, drawing, sewing, quilting, reupholstering furniture, playing Irish pennywhistle, refinishing old wood, cooking huge amounts of food for the pressure canner, or wrangling various dogs, cats, goats, and people.

My Thoughts

Snowbound with the Rancher is written by Kit Hawthorne. This book is part of the Truly Texas series. I have not read the other books in the series, and had no issues following along. This is part of the Harlequin Heartwarming series - where you know you will have clean, wholesome romance to read.

Dirk Hager has had ranching in his blood for a long time. He is not thrilled when a developer builds a bunch of houses close to his land. He is not a fan of the city slickers. Macy Reinalda has moved into one of these houses and is looking for a fresh start. One day she is sitting outside her home watching the bonfire and burning the last memories of her failed relationship when Dirk shows up and puts the fire out. He is worried about the possibility of a wildfire.

Macy is shocked when he comes over and squelches her fire. She starts to dig a little deeper about what Dirk had told her and realizes he is right. However, she is frustrated that he was so rude about it. Then a huge snowstorm rolls into Texas and traps the two together. Can they survive without killing each other?

I believe this is the first book that I have read by this author. She writes her stories well. The characters are well developed. I loved the tension between Dirk and Macy in the beginning. He was/is very set in his ways. He thinks that the old school cowboy way is the way to go and does not believe that city folk have any rights or respect to the Texas land. Macy, I loved her. She left a bad engagement and was trying to find peace and serenity. Her dog, Gunnar was adorable and made me laugh.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read a copy of this book -- all thoughts are my own.
